Garnacha Tintorera is not related to the Garnacha vine, but a cross of Garnacha and Petit Bouschet. Henri Bouschet succeeded in 1855, and so it is also called Alicante Bouschet. The variety is mainly widespread in the south of France, Algeria and the Spanish Levant. In the vineyards of Piqueras there are many root-real sticks between the ages of 45 and 60. The gnarled goblet sticks grow on sandy soils up to heights of 900 metres. No more than 1.5 kilos will be harvested per plant at the beginning of October. After two weeks of mashing, the red matures for half a year in 300-litre barrels made of American oak and for more months in a steel tank. The result: a rich red with a lot of enamel. Alcohol content 14.5%
