OTRONIA
$65.99
Otrania, from the most extreme area of Argentine Patagonia.
"The Rugientes line offers a panorama of the entire Otrania vineyard in Sarmiento, next to Lake Musters, in what is the southernmost productive vineyard in South America. This blend includes 42% Gewürztraminer, 36% Pinot Grigio and the rest of chardonnay, the three white varieties that have best adapted to these extreme cold conditions in a dry steppe. The first thing that stands out is the contrast between the ripeness of the fruit, the flavors of flowers and herbs in the midst of intense acidity, that seems to have edge. A wine of great volume and at the same time of great freshness, designed for grilled fatty fish." Patricio Tapia - Uncorked
"Aromas of grilled pineapple, cooked pear, lime, lemon curd and chalk. It is medium to full bodied, with bright acidity and a waxy, oily texture. Ripe citrus and tropical fruit turn into minerals and almonds. blanched on the long, layered finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or store." James Suckling
Some 1,900 kilometers away from Mendoza, on the eastern shore of Lake Musters, in Chubut, Argentine businessman Alejandro Bulgueroni and Italian adviser Alberto Antonini thought that this windy place, with little rain and low temperatures - a cold desert where in summer there are 14 hours of sun (photosynthesis is not the problem) and in winter the nights last 12 hours - it could be interesting. In 2010 they began to plant the vineyard and today they have some 50 hectares, mainly with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, in the southernmost project
